The Gifts of Imperfection ~ Brene Brown, PhD, MSW

Brown invites readers to set down the exhausting pursuit of being enough and to practice what she calls wholehearted living. Drawing on her research on shame and vulnerability, she makes a compelling case that self-compassion is not indulgence but the foundation of real connection. It's a tender, freeing book for anyone ready to meet themselves with a little more kindness. Everyone should read this book, and more than once.

Fear has a way of convincing us to wait until we feel ready, and Jeffers powerfully dismantles that bargain. Her message is that confidence tends to follow action rather than precede it, and that we can move forward while the fear is still present. This is a warm, practical companion for those moments when anxiety would rather keep us standing still. There is a section of this book that focuses on the language we use when talking ourselves into (or out of) action. This section is particularly powerful.

Mindset ~ Carol Dweck, PhD

Dweck's central insight is deceptively simple: the beliefs we hold about our own abilities shape what we're willing to attempt. By distinguishing a fixed mindset from a growth mindset, she shows how effort, struggle, and even failure become part of learning rather than evidence against us. It's a hopeful, research-grounded read for anyone, parent or child, who has ever felt boxed in by a label. This book will change the way you think of yourself and the world around you.
